Students started back to school on Tuesday, Jan. 7, being allowed to visit their classes and change schedules if necessary.
And even though it seems really early, we are getting geared up for next year and will be meeting with students to start planning their schedules for next year. Mr. Michael Kolton will be scheduling a parent meeting on January 27 for current freshmen, sophomore, and junior students.
There will also be a meeting with current eighth grade parents the first week of February to get them scheduled for freshmen year. It’s an exciting time.
Since Illinois has switched back to requiring all junior students to take the ACT instead of the SAT, we started last week by having all of our freshmen, sophomores, and junior students work through a program called Method Learning.
This program will help students prepare for the ACT, giving them insight into the test and helpful hints for how to succeed. During this time, seniors have the opportunity to be working on scholarship and college applications, resumes, or looking for job opportunities.
During homeroom, we will also be spending some time on digital citizenship, learning about social media, how to react to hate speech on social media, and when the teen brain is ready for social media.
