AMBOY – In a night filled with great cuisine, cards, dice, and laughs, Amboy Fire District firefighters and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) were awarded for their service over the last year during the 2023 Amboy Fire Department Awards on Saturday, Dec. 31.

Amboy Firefighters, EMTs awarded for service

AMBOY – In a night filled with great cuisine, cards, dice, and laughs, Amboy Fire District firefighters and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) were awarded for their service over the last year during the 2023 Amboy Fire Department Awards on Saturday, Dec. 31.

Firefighter Kevin Glenn was named the Fire Fighter of the Year and Lieutenant Angel Dunn was named the EMT of the Year. Deputy Chief Jason Ramos earned the Mr. Consistent Award and Captain Nate Shaw received the Pride and Ownership Award.

Chief Craig Haigh accepted the Making It Happen Award, Call of the Year went to fire fighter and paramedic Nick Dinges and Glenn, Above & Beyond had Lieutenant Demi Becker’s name on it, and Rookie of the Year was candidate Kayla Oury.

The Life Saving Award, given to those who performed CPR, worked with ALS, and saved patients’ lives with quick actions, was given to EMT Director Wes Shaw, Nate Shaw, Becker, Tonia Warner, Shelly Bonnell, and Ramos.

Top Gun Training was received by Ramos, Dave Carrington, Fire Chief Jeff Bryant Sr., Tammy Bryant, Glenn, Nate Shaw, Becker, and Bill Hartman, while Top Gun Call Responses (first to respond to calls) went to Nate Shaw, Becker, Dunn, Glenn, Ramos, and Wes Shaw.

The Ken Bouvier Award was given to Wes Shaw and EMS Director Kim Stram.

Firefighters and EMTs with long tenures of service were recognized as retired fire chief and lifetime member Frank Stenzel celebrated 50 years, Bryant Sr. was honored for 35 years, lifetime members Les and Betty Shaw celebrated 25 years, Assistant Chief Duane Dickison, Dinges, Trustee President Ed Lilja, and Trustee Secretary Joel Hochstatter received an ovation for 15 years.
