AMBOY CELEBRATES FOURTH OF JULY

Posted

There was fun to be had for all on July 1 in Amboy as the Amboy Fire Department held its 4th of July celebration.  Kids jumped in a bounce house, slid down the water slide, blew bubbles, had their face painted or met a Minion or Rapunzel. Adults listened to the band Back Country Roads and watched wrestling performed by Zowa.  All got to enjoy food vendors inside the fire station and the fantastic firework display. It all started with a AFD pancake breakfast from 7-11 a.m.

“We had a great, record-setting turnout even with the weather and the Reagan Run and the Petunia Fest taking place in Dixon,” said Kim Stram, an Amboy EMS captain. “We started off slow, but once it picked up at 8 a.m., we had all of our tables packed until 11. We had a lot of campers since we’re surrounded by five camp grounds.

“It was a lot of fun doing this.”
