Last weekend the Amboy High school band, under the direction of Travis Kemmerer and Drum Major Natalie Pratt, took the marching band to perform in the Harvest Time parade in Oregon.
The band placed 2nd overall and the Color Guard (flags and poms) placed 2nd as well. The band has been practicing hard getting ready for parades, halftime performances of the football game, and starting music for pep band and the veteran’s day ceremony. The band was also able to get a new wrap for the outside of their trailer.
The Veteran’s Day Ceremony will be on November 11 at 9am in the high school gymnasium. The public is welcome to attend. Please bring a valid driver’s license with you to sign in.
Don’t forget to put the Fall play on your calendar, The Play That Goes Wrong, November 1st and 2nd at 7pm and November 3rd at 2pm. The cast and crew are looking forward to a great show.
On October 28th at 5:30pm, SVCC will be coming to the high school to present on financial aid and the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) will be here to help families set up their username and password for their FAFSA accounts. Anyone with a senior student or anyone who would like help to get their FAFSA process started are welcome to attend.
The mousetrap cars for physical science class are coming to an end. Students worked hard getting them to meet the requirements of going about 50 feet. While some of them veered different directions, students were able to understand and attempt to fix the problems they encountered.
