Narcotics bust on I-88

LEE COUNTY — During the early evening on Thursday, May 25, 2023, a deputy from the Lee County Sheriff’s Department was patrolling Interstate 88 doing narcotics interdiction when he observed a black Cadillac traveling westbound with an equipment violation.

Carlson, Harris honored by CUSD

AMBOY — Recently, the Amboy CUSD #272 Board of Education announced the 2022-23 Teacher and Staff Member of the Year awards. Cynthia Carlson, a 24-year math teacher at Amboy High School, was named Teacher of the Year. Carlson nominators touted her ability to make math meaningful and relevant to life.

Amboy Aldermen sworn in to another term

AMBOY — The Amboy City Council met in regular session on May 15, and immediately began with committee reports. Alderman Brandon Klein mentioned that the new outside lights at the Community Building is complete. Mayor John Schamberger stated that he had driven by and the lights “looked good” and are a nice addition. Alderman Bill Bontz said that two trees in the park need to come down as the result of the ash borer beetle as well as spraying to keep them away.

City arch gets new lease on life

AMBOY — As spring is in full swing and summer not far off, the weather has cooperated to the point that we can go for a walk, perhaps pushing a favorite one in a stroller, bike ride, or run.
