The storm system that dropped over a foot a snow across northern Illinois ended on Monday morning, leaving everyone to the task of digging out. Schools from around the area, including Amboy, closed on Monday due to the conditions. A blizzard warning was issued from 6 p.m. on Sunday night through 6 a.m. on Monday. Snow plow crews were pulled off the road on Sunday night until Monday morning. The Lee County Sheriff’s Department reported on Facebook that the plows had been attempting to keep roads open, only to have the wind drift the road closed minutes later. On Monday morning, vehicles were seen in ditches along IL Route 30 and IL Route 52 heading south into Amboy. In Amboy, city crews work to clean off Main Street around noon on Monday morning.
