OREGON – One Amboy High School golfer will continue on to the sectional round after the Clippers competed in the Oregon Class 1A Regional on Oct. 6.
Sophomore Wes Wilson got through to the sectional after his score of 88 was one of the top five among golfers not on a qualifying team.
The top two advancing teams were Port Byron Riverdale with a 337 and Sterling Newman with a 340. Fulton (342) and Erie (370) occupied the next two spots, while the Clippers were fifth at 378. Other competing schools were Morrison (395), Oregon (404), Bureau Valley (412) and Indian Creek (432.
The meet medalist was James Moorhusen of Riverdale with a 79.
Wilson will compete in the Peru St. Bede Sectional on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at Spring Creek Golf Course in Spring Valley.
