DIXON — William G. Law, 89, of Dixon, died Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at his home. He was a farmer, mechanic, and worked in construction for over 50 years.
Memorial visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of memorial service at 1 p.m., on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. Rev. Stan Rodabaugh will officiate the memorial service. Burial of cremated remains will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon immediately following the service.
William was born March 14, 1928, in Dixon, the son of David Hillis and Josephine (McGinnis) Law. He served in the United States Navy from 1946 – 1948. William married Debora Plum on July 24 in Dixon. He loved spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and having get togethers during the holidays. William’s passion was nature, he especially enjoyed gardening, planting trees, and spending time at their river property. He enjoyed meeting with his coffee buddies every morning to shoot the breeze. William spent his spare time tinkering and maintaining his old equipment.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Debora Law, of Dixon; one son, William Gregory (Laurina) Law, of Sterling; one daughter, Christine (Bradley) Barron, of Dixon; two daughters-in-law, Cyndi Law and Darcy Himes; 10 grandchildren, Tessa E. Law, Katie L. Law, Colby J. Law, Alex L. (Luke) Whitaker, Mathew D. Law, Paige Himes, Brooke Himes, Jason M. Mekeel, Jacob D. Mekeel, Tiffany D. (Jon) Brenner; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sons, David G. Law, Timothy A. Himes, and Patrick L. Himes.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
