AMBOY — William "Bill" Lee White, 89, of Amboy, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at Rock River Hospice & Home, Sterling, surrounded by his family.

He worked for Daubert Chemical Company, Inc., for over 25 years prior to his retirement in 1995.

Bill was born, Dec. 8, 1929, in Tazewell, Va., the son of Elisha and Mattie (Sayer) White. He married Mildred "Millie" F. Day on Dec. 24, 1969, in Dixon. She preceded him in death on Nov. 23, 2008.

He served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. Bill enjoyed camping and fishing to relax. There were many places he traveled to over the years a few of his favorites were Cattail Slough Campground, Lake Shabbona, Morrison State Park and Johnson State Park. Bill loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Mary (Bob Mirrilees) Garren, of Clinton, Iowa, David Summers, of Sanford, N.C., Rick (Pat) Summers, of Lee Center, Terry Islas, of DeSoto, and Mark (Ann) Summers, of Amboy; nine grandchildren, Jeff Garren, Duane Spears, Joe Spears, Damien Islas, Natasha Kramar, Joshua Summers, Lily Danbury, Charli Betancourt, Chelsi Summers; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two brothers and three sisters.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at noon on, Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Yeakel and Harold Koonce, co-officiating. Entombment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Dixon, Illinois, with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Rock River Hospice & Home.

Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
