AMBOY – Amboy-LaMoille is still searching for its first win of the season after dropping a 28-6 contest to Savanna (West Carroll) on Sept. 8 at the AHS field.
A botched punt by the Clippers allowed West Carroll to score the first touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run by Kaleb Hartman early in the second quarter. The score stayed 6-0 as both teams went to the locker room.
The Thunder forged ahead 12-0 in the third period when it went 94 yards, the final play being an 8-yard run by Hartman.
Amboy-LaMoille tallied its only touchdown of the game in the third quarter on an 80-yard drive that was finalized by a 1-yard plunge by quarterback Justin Hart to make it a 12-6 score.
But West Carroll managed to put the game away with a pair of touchdowns late in the fourth quarter.
The Clippers ended with 231 total yards, led by Ben Rhine with 118 yards rushing. Hart picked up 58 yards passing.
Amboy-LaMoille’s next game will be Friday, Sept. 15 against Durand-Pecatonica at the AHS field. The freshman-sophomore kickoff will be at 5:30 p.m.
