MENDOTA — Viletta L. Heiden, age 98, of Mendota, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at Heritage Health in Mendota. She was born Aug. 28, 1919, in Mendota, the daughter of George and Ella (Stein) Leonard.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, in Restland Cemetery in Mendota, with the Rev. Kent Svendsen, officiating. There will be no public visitation.
Vi worked for the Amboy Rug Mill, the Freeman Shoe Company in Dixon and Allied Locke Company prior to her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mendota. Viletta married John R. Heiden in Mendota Aug. 28, 1940. He preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1986.
She was also preceded in death by her son John G. Heiden, Sr.; two sisters, Berniece Martens and Evelyn Henert; one brother, George Leonard. Survivors include three grandchildren, John (Debbie) Heiden Jr., of Fairview Heights, Joseph (Kim) Heiden, of Mendota, and Jeanette (Dennis) Shepherd, of Mendota; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
