AMBOY — Shirley A. Pitzer, 82, of Amboy, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at Mendota Lutheran Home, surrounded by her family. She was born March 10, 1935, in Amboy, the daughter of Marvin and Beulah (Conderman) Miller.

AMBOY — Shirley A. Pitzer, 82, of Amboy, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at Mendota Lutheran Home, surrounded by her family. She was born March 10, 1935, in Amboy, the daughter of Marvin and Beulah (Conderman) Miller.

Shirley was a Teacher's Aid for Amboy CUSD #272, and had also worked at the Credit Bureau in Dixon prior to her retirement. She made draperies for Kline's Department Store in Dixon and upholstered furniture, as well as baking and decorating cakes.

She was a member of United First Church in Amboy, and was the Secretary for Prairie Repose Cemetery Board.

Shirley married Charles Pitzer at United Methodist Church in Amboy on May 1, 1955. He preceded her in death April 2, 2010.

Survivors include her four children, Christine Pitzer, of Pekin, Ind., Dr. Laurine (Jeff) Pitzer-Hanson, Neal (Patt) Pitzer, and Sarah Feith, all of Amboy; one granddaughter, MaKayla Feith; two step-grandchildren, Tracy (John) Simpson, of Lee Center and Jamie (Cory) Johnson, of Rock Falls;  eight step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Wendell "Skip" (Doris) Miller, of Amboy.

Funeral services will be held on at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, in the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with Kent Terry, Chaplain at Mendota Lutheran Home, officiating.  Cremation will follow with burial of cremains at a later date in Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 10, in the funeral home.
