DIXON — The Robbins family is saddened to announce the death of their beloved husband, father and grandfather, Roger Claire Robbins, on Sept. 20, 2022 in Dixon.
Roger was born at the public hospital in Amboy on Sept. 28, 1934, the son of Chauncey and Vida (Boehle) Robbins.
Roger was graduated from Amboy High School in 1952 and has, over the years, served on the class reunion committee.
Roger served with the United States military from 1954 to 1956 and is a veteran of the Korean War.
He is a graduate of Bradley University in 1960 where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
He began his professional career with the Illinois Department of Transportation in Peoria in 1960 and retired in 1990 from the Dixon office as the Bureau Chief of Local Roads and Streets.
Roger married Michele Gorman on Nov. 9, 1963. They are the parents of two children, David and Reagen (William) Atwood and grandparents of Ainsley and William.
Roger was predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Dean, Dale and Kenneth, and one sister, Lois (William) Anderson.
Roger was active in the community including serving more than 40 years as a member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank in Amboy. He was also a member of the Dixon Elks Lodge, the Jaycees, American Legion and member/past president of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers.
Roger is survived by his wife, Michele; children and grandchildren; sister, Mrs. James (Yvonne) Reynolds; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a private graveside service with military honors at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. A memorial has been established to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
