ROCKFORD – Seven Rockford University football players, including a former Amboy Clipper, received postseason recognition from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference when the NACC released its 2017 all-conference awards on Nov. 27.

Running back Chance Manning of Durand, offensive lineman Austin Miller of Washington, tight end Adam Ambrogio of Rockford and punter Alexis Gutierrez of Amboy were each first-team All-NACC selections, while offensive lineman Brandon Bothem of Roscoe, defensive lineman Jacob Cremeens of Roscoe and defensive back Dylan Peterson of Reynolds received NACC honorable mention status. Rockford's four first-team All-NACC selections are the most in program history, and its seven overall selections are tied for the most in program history.

Gutierrez, a freshman, kicked off his collegiate career with Rockford's first ever first-team All-NACC punter selection. Gutierrez led the NACC and set the RU single-season record averaging 41.2 yards per punt. He also did an excellent job pinning the opponent deep in its own territory as he led the NACC by placing 16 of his 43 punts inside the 20-yard line. Additionally, Gutierrez showed off his strong leg by bombing 10 punts of at least 50 yards, including three that traveled at least 60 yards.
