Pocket Pillows combines AHS theater history and future

AMBOY — In January, the stage at the Amboy High School Auditorium got new curtains. Thanks to a generous anonymous donor and participation in the Dash for Cash during the intermission of the 2022 spring musical “Disney’s Moana Jr.”, backstage and main curtains were replaced.
“We are so grateful for the support,” said Dash for Cash organizer Katie Pratt.
Pratt said a theater supporter suggested using the old main stage curtains in some sort of a fundraiser. After brainstorming and finding AHS alumni who sew, the ‘old’ curtains are now repurposed as pillows.
“The main front stage curtains were in decent condition, so we didn’t want to throw them away,” Pratt said. “These pillows are the perfect way for people to have a tangible piece of AHS with them.”
Pillow sales will fund more auditorium upgrades. Projects under consideration include new acoustic paneling and seating.
Pillows are $25 and pillow covers are $15. Quantities are limited. Pratt said they hope to have pillows for sale at this year’s spring musical, if they are still available.
