2022 Amboy High School graduate Olivia Miller is a recipient of the Golden Apple Scholarship given out by the state of Illinois. The Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois program is a teacher preparation and tuition assistance program for high school seniors and freshman and sophomore Illinois college students who have the determination and drive to be highly effective teachers in Illinois schools-of-need. They prepare aspiring teachers for immediate and lasting success in the most challenging teaching environments. On June 4, Miller traveled to downtown Chicago to be inducted in as a Golden Apple Scholar. Golden Apple Scholar announced the class of 2022 is the largest class of Scholars in program history and each aspiring teacher has committed to teach in a school-of-need in Illinois for five years after graduation. Miller is headed to Illinois State University this fall and will major in elementary education.
