AMBOY — Melinda Ucci, 96, of Amboy, died Saturday, March 4, 2017, in her home. She was born Oct. 28, 1920, in Chicago, the daughter of Ralph and Lucreza (Silvestri) Vera.
Visitation will be from 3 – 8 p.m., on Wednesday March 8, 2017, at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday March 9, 2017, in the funeral home with Pastors John Lewis and Don Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery in Lee Center. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Seventh Day Adventist Church 406 Prospect St Dixon, IL 61021. A memorial has been established to offset funeral expenses. She had owned and operated Ucci Texaco Station with her husband on Route 30 near Lee Center.
Melinda was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dixon and volunteered at the church's Community Service Center, and was a volunteer at hospice for nine years, and Prison Ministries for 25 years.
She married Anthony Ucci in Chicago on Feb. 21, 1942. He preceded her in death Feb. 19, 1979. She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Dwight Walton Booth and Brian Lee Ucci; four sisters, Clara Torto, Mary Cohen, Anna Schumacher and Victoria DeBartolo, and one brother, Michael Vera.
Survivors include two children, Anthony (Clara) Ucci, Jr., of Waterloo, and Sanita (Ronald) Booth, of Warba, Minn.; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
