Mary Zapf

SUBLETTE – Mary Zapf, 100, of Sublette, passed away peacefully on Sept. 7, 2023, at Stonecroft Village, Mendota.

A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sublette on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Randy J. Fronek officiating. A graveside service with interment of ashes will follow the Mass at St. Mary's Cemetery, Sublette. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, assisted the family.

Mary Zapf is the daughter of Albert and Margaret (Theiss) Butler. She married Clarence Zapf on Aug. 3, 1944, in Sublette, and they farmed in Sublette Township their entire married lives. She was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sublette and devoted many years to the religious education program and youth choir at the parish.

She is survived by her two sons, Steve (Shirley) Zapf of Rochelle and Don (Susan) Zapf of Peoria; four grandsons and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2011 and her brother, Albert.
