Mary L. Sensenig

AMBOY — Mary L. Sensenig, 74, of Amboy, died on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born on Dec. 4, 1948, in Dixon, the daughter of Glen Shippert and Mildred Andrus. Mary worked as a CNA for the Amboy Nursing Home for over 47 years, and then 2 years at Franklin Grove Living and Rehab prior to her retirement in 2021. She enjoyed bowling, hunting, yard work, cooking, and playing the lotto. She was a proud owner of several show cars and enjoyed entering them into local car shows like the Amboy Depot Day Car Show.

Mary married Lyle "Red" Sensenig in Amboy on Aug. 20, 1967.

She is preceded in death by her son, Allen "Zip" Sensenig, and her father.

Mary is survived by her husband, Lyle; son, Tim (Suzann Brady) Sensenig, of Amboy; grandchildren Matt, Nathan, Alexia, Seth; and great-grandchildren, Mason, Laydon, and Karley. She is also survived by her mother, Mildred Diggs of DeWitt, Neb.; brother, Dave (Estelle) Shippert, of Byron; and longtime friend of 37 years, Kelli Draper, of Rock Falls.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Jan 7, 2023 at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery in Lee Center. Visitation will be on Friday Jan 6, 2023 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and again on Saturday, Jan 7, 2023 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy.
