VENICE, Fla. — Lois Jane Copper died peacefully in Venice, Fla., on Feb. 5, 2018.
She was 100 years old. She was born in Amboy on Nov. 13, 1917, to Holly Spencer Smith and Anna Cecelia Smith. Lois married Robert Ryan Copper on Aug. 24, 1940 in Amboy. He predeceased her.
She is survived by her children, James David Copper(Diana) and Jane Copper-Short (John); grandchildren, Jeffrey Ryan Copper and Colette Copper Boyko (Matthew); and five great-grandchildren.
She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1939, taught at Rossville High School, Penn State University and Mason City Public Elementary School.
Lois was a member of the Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder and Clerk of the Session, Delta Kappa Gamma having served as President, and D.A.R. She was active with the Community Concert Association serving on their Board in Lincoln, Illinois. Lois enjoyed quilting, traveling and wintering in Sun City West, Ariz.
