Loftus finished high school track career with 10 place finish

CHARLESTON – The outstanding track career of Brock Loftus has come to an end for the Amboy-LaMoille-Ohio-AFC track team.

The senior from Ohio capped off his brilliant four-year career with a 10th-place finish in the 3200-meter run at the IHSA State Track & Field Meet held May 26-28 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

Loftus recorded his best time ever in his last high school race as he was clocked in 10:00.34.

Kieran Subra of Chicago (Lycee Francais de Chicago) was the 3200-meter run state champion with a time of 9:15.58. Completing the top five finishers were Ryan Hardiman of Chicago (Latin) (9:22.57), Miles Sheppard of Warsaw (Hamilton-West Hancock) (9:30.93), Tommy Murray of Port Byron (Riverdale) (9:31.76) and Isaac Teel of Pinckneyville (9:34.85).

The six through nine runners were Cannen Wolf of Liberty (9:35.50), Akili Parekh of Chicago (Latin) (9:40.16), Weston Forward of Rockford Christian (9:44.44) and Landen Swiney of DuQuoin (9:52.01).

Catlin (Salt Fork) and Cowden (C.-Herrick) tied for the team state championship with 44 points apiece. Pleasant Plains was next with 37 points, followed by Winnebago (33.5) and Rockford Christian (33).
