Lions health fair a success

AMBOY — The Amboy Lions Community Health Fair was a big success despite the harsh winds and cold temperatures. One of the Lions’ goals is to bring community awareness to vision, hearing and diabetic health issues.  Nearly 150 area residents visited the local health and safety vendors to discuss various medical and safety concerns.  74 of our residents took advantage of the Lions of Illinois free vision and hearing screenings. One of the sentiments echoed throughout the day was “what a great event for the Lions to bring to our community.”

Many of the participants enjoyed the free lunch provided by SubWay, Lilja Tiling and the Amboy Lions while they waited for their screenings.  The mobile screening units reported that they tested many more people than they normally test in the same time span.

Throughout the day the club gave out 14 door prizes donated by area merchants.
