AMBOY — Over the past 30 years, the Amboy Lions Club has awarded over $50,000 in scholarship money to Amboy graduates. This is the 18th consecutive year that the Club has made scholarships available. The criteria used by the selection committee included: citizenship, academic achievement, community and extracurricular involvement, and a desire to pursue a higher education beyond high school. This year the Club made available $3,000 to be given towards scholarships.
The 2020 recipients of the Amboy Lions Club Scholarship are: Alison O’Rourke, Abigael Ely, Ashley Althaus, Tyler Stewart, and Margaret Vaessen.
Each recipient will receive a $600 scholarship at the completion of their first semester. The Lions Scholarship dinner honoring the recipients and their parents normally held in late July is on hold at this time due to the pandemic.
Congratulations to all the recipients and best of luck in your future endeavors.
