AMBOY — Amboy High School won this year’s 2017 NWIVOA Volleyball Sportsmanship Award, sponsored by the Northwest Illinois Volleyball Officials Association. Each year, members of the association rate each school’s sportsmanship in the following areas: team members, coaches/administration and the fans. The team that most consistently demonstrates good sportsmanship for the entire season, and has a minimum of 10 evaluations from at least four different officials, is awarded a gym banner.

The other schools in the top five were East Dubuque, Polo, Durand and Pearl City. The NWIVOA also recognizes those schools that had a composite score of 2.0 or less on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being outstanding and 5 being poor. In addition to the top five schools, there were 18 other schools that had a composite rating of 2.0 or less. These schools were: Oregon, Forreston, Stockton, Warren, West Carroll, Rock Falls, Ashton/Franklin Center, Freeport Aquin, Stillman Valley, Pecatonica, Orangeville, Galena, River Ridge, Lena-Winslow, Scales Mound, Milledgeville, Dakota and Eastland.
