AMBOY — The Amboy Lady Clippers’ varsity volleyball team captured a fourth-place finish at the LaMoille Tournament on Sept. 9.
Amboy started the day beating Galva 25-18, 25-20. They followed that up with a split with eventual tournament champion La Moille with scores of 26-24, 15-25. They finished pool play by defeating Marquette 26-24, 25-23.
In their semi-final match they lost to Somonauk 19-25, 14-25 and dropped the third-place match to Leland-Earlville 19-25, 17-25.
Leading the way for the Lady Clippers on the day were Shannon Lytle with 28 kills and Dani Hochstatter with 21 kills. Rachel Lachat recorded 26 assists while Kallie Appleman had 22. Kenzie Payne had 13 digs on the day while Savannah Ikens recorded eight kills. Noelle Jones also finished with eight kills.
The Clippers are now 5-4-1 on the season. The sophomore team is 4-1 on the season after dropping a hard-fought match to AFC last Tuesday while the freshmen are off to a 5-0 start after defeating AFC on Tuesday.
