Lady Clippers lose three games on the road

AMBOY — Eastland posted an 8-1 win over Amboy in varsity softball action on May 10 at Lanark.

The home team plated two runs in the fourth inning and then pulled away with six tallies in the fifth. Amboy’s run came in the top of the seventh.

Maeve Larson doubled and tripled for the Lady Clippers, while Tyrah Vaessen singled and doubled.


Newman claimed a 10-0 triumph over the Lady Clippers on May 11 at Sterling. The Lady Comets scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game by the 10-run rule.

Amboy got singles by Baylie Nickel and Hannah Blanton.

Blanton was the losing pitcher.


The Lady Clippers blasted Milledgeville, 13-0, in the regular season finale on May 12 at Milledgeville. The game ended in the fifth via the 10-run rule.

Amboy scored three times in the top of the first and then broke the game open with eight runs in the third.

Four AHS players had two hits apiece – Vaessen (two singles), Larson (two singles), Blanton (single, double) and Kaysi Schaeffer (two singles).

Blanton was in the circle and tossed a complete-game four-hitter. She struck out 10 and did not issue a walk.

The Lady Clippers concluded the regular season at 6-11 overall and 5-5 in the conference.
