PEORIA – Amboy-LaMoille’s successful cross country season ended with an appearance in the IHSA Class 1A State Final on Nov. 4 in Peoria.
The Lady Clippers finished in 25th place with 610 points. Tolono Unity took the overall state championship with 108 points, followed by St. Joseph-Ogden (110), Monticello (181) and Herscher (199).
Kaitlyn Ortgiesen was the first Lady Clipper runner to finish the race in 144th place with a time of 20:46. Cassidy Corcoran was next to cross the finish line for Amboy-LaMoille in 152nd place with a time of 21:01. Kelynn Boyle checked in with a 154th-place finish in 21:03, while Ashley Althaus was 156th in 21:06.
Also competing in the state meet for the Lady Clippers were Margaret Vaessen (189th, 22:01), Macy Mershon (201st, 23:47) and Ally Gascoigne (204th, 23:53).
Emma Argo of Eureka was the individual champion with a clocking of 17:34. The rest of the top five positions included Ailey Mitchell of Shelbyville (17:46), Frankie Chaidez of Elmhurst Immaculate Conception (17:47), Karlie Hey of Sterling Newman (17:48) and Fran Hendrickson of Champaign St. Thomas More (17:59).
