Lady Clippers end season

ANNAWAN – The Amboy Clippers lost to Annawan, 25-14, 17-25, 25-18 in the semifinal-round of the Annawan Class 1A Regional Volleyball Tournament on Oct. 26. The loss ended AHS’s season.

Tyrah Vaessen and Kiera Karlson both had nice matches at the net, with Vaessen picking up five kills and five blocks and Karlson getting three kills and three blocks. Vaessen added nine digs, five assists and three ace serves. Madison O’Malley also had three aces, while Elly Jones had seven assists, Ellie McLaughlin recorded 12 digs and Courtney Ortgiesen collected 10 digs.

Amboy advanced to the semifinals after winning its regional opener against Cambridge, 25-22, 25-22, on Oct. 24.

Hanover River Ridge went on to claim the regional championship with a 25-21, 25-10 triumph over Annawan on Oct. 27.
