AMBOY – The Amboy Lady Clippers completed their pre-holidays schedule with a perfect 11-0 record after blasting Byron, 67-27, on Dec. 16 at the AHS gym.
Amboy jumped out to a 14-6 first-quarter lead and then exploded for 28 points in the second period while holding Byron to just six. The Lady Clippers were still running on all cylinders in the third frame as they outscored the Lady Tigers, 18-7.
Amboy scorched the nets at a 64 percent clip for the game. Mallory Powers led the charge with 20 points, including draining three of four shots from three-point land. Powers also paced the team with 10 assists and she handled five rebounds.
Abi Payne and Gabby Jones each added 12 points, while Payne had six assists and three steals and Jones picked off four rebounds and dished out three assists. Also contributing to the landslide victory were Olivia Dinges with 10 points, Kyleigh Donna with seven points, five rebounds and five blocked shots, Ashley Althaus with two points and four steals, and Brianna Blaine with two points.
