AMBOY – The Amboy Lady Clippers made short work of Freeport Aquin, claiming a 10-0 home victory on April 4 in a game halted in the fifth inning by the 10-run rule.
Amboy wasted little time in taking control of the contest as it put five runs on the board in the bottom of the first. The Lady Clippers added another five-spot in the third to complete the scoring.
Kylie Highbarger collected three singles and Shannon Lytle supplied a pair of doubles for the winners. Bailee Highbarger added a single and a double, while Emma Lindenmeyer stroked two singles.
Karlee Doege baffled the Aquin hitters, who managed just one hit. The senior walked one and struck out 12.

Newark gave Amboy a battle, but the Lady Clippers prevailed, 3-1, on April 7 at the AHS field.
The Lady Clippers scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, while Doege blanked Newark until the seventh. The senior allowed just four hits and struck out 11.
Amboy received two hits apiece from Hallie Nauman (single, double, one RBI), Haley Varga (single, double) and Delaney Wilhelm (two singles).
The Lady Clippers are 8-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
