CHARLESTON – Amboy-LaMoille’s girls’ track team can boast of having one of the best relay teams in the state after the Lady Clippers participated in the IHSA Class 1A State Track Meet on May 17-19 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

Lady Clippers compete at state track meet

CHARLESTON – Amboy-LaMoille’s girls’ track team can boast of having one of the best relay teams in the state after the Lady Clippers participated in the IHSA Class 1A State Track Meet on May 17-19 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

Amboy-LaMoille’s 4x400-meter relay team of Cassidy Corcoran, Brooklyn Whelchel, Sidney Corcoran and Ashley Althaus finished in eighth place in the state meet with a time of 4:13.47 in the finals. The team went into the finals having run the sixth-best time in the preliminaries at 4:09.46.

The state champion in the 4x400 relay was Farmington, which posted a time of 4:02.92.

The same Lady Clipper foursome also made it to state in the 4x200-meter relay. The group ran a preliminary time of 1:55.06, which was not fast enough to advance to the finals.

Althaus also competed in the 400-meter dash in Charleston. She put up a preliminary round time of 1:01.06 and did not qualify for the finals.

St. Joseph-Ogden claimed the state team championship with 46 points. The rest of the top five included Farmington (36), Decatur St. Teresa (35), Bureau Valley (34) and Champaign St. Thomas More (33).
