FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Julie Kay Cain, 64, of Fairfield, Calif., formerly of Dixon, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2017, surrounded by her family at Northbay Medical Center in Fairfield.

A private interment of cremains will be at Union Cemetery in Ohio, at a later date.

Julie was born June 13, 1953, in Dixon, to Grover and Kathleen (Blackburn) Smith. She is survived by her two brothers, Ben Smith and Larry Smith; and two sisters, Patricia Long (Smith) and Ramona Jennings (Smith).

She graduated from Ohio High School in 1971. Upon graduation, she spent many years thereafter traveling and working across the United States and Japan, finally residing in Fairfield, California.

Julie spent the next 32 years devoted to her significant other, Douglas Banks, her two daughters, Krystle (Banks) Hansen and Kirstin Banks, and granddaughters, Catherine and Anastasia Hansen. Thirty of those years, Julie worked as a scheduler for Anheuser-Busch and thoroughly enjoyed her time there. She made the best of friends who would become her second family out in California. Once retired in 2009, she found joy in planning parties and get togethers for all of the Budweiser retirees and was loved and respected by all who had the opportunity to work alongside her.

Julie was a long-time parishioner of Holy Spirit Parish and spent many Sundays after Mass volunteering her time with the congregation. With the warm California weather, she often could be found spending time at the pool or beach. Her daughters have fond memories as young children spending Summers packing picnic lunches and jumping off the high dive hand-in-hand with their mother.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents;

Arrangements are being completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon.
