AMBOY — Joseph F. Apple, age 87, of Amboy, died Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Maple Crossing of Amboy. 

He was born Feb. 10, 1931, in Tampico, the son of Louis and Mabel (Bushman) Apple.

He had worked for Brodericks Truck Sales for 30 years, as well as Wynn's Oil Products for 25 years prior to his retirement.

Joe was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Walton, the Knights of Columbus, and was a 32 year member of AA.

He married Donna Mae Oester at St. Mary's Church in Walton on May 2, 1953.

She preceded him in death June 20, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Gladys Apple;  a son, Robert J. Apple;  two brothers, Louis and Kenneth Apple;  and two sisters, Marjorie Gallagher and Mary Catherine Apple in infancy.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (Dennis Donna) Morrissey, of Dixon and Sharon (Buck) Kelly, of Amboy;  one son, Brad (Ann) Apple, of Dixon; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Apple, of Tucson, Ariz.; four sisters, Ruth Higgins, of Cherry Valley, Elaine Torti and Rose  (Larry) McCullogh, of Rockford, and Kay

Brown, of Chandler, Ariz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, April 23, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Walton with the Rev. Timothy Draper officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Amboy. Visitation will be from 2 - 6 p.m., on Sunday, April 22, with a scripture service at 6 p.m. in St. Mary's Church in Walton.  A memorial has been established. Funeral arrangements by Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy.
