COMPTON – Jeffrey David Montavon, 29, of Compton, passed peacefully at home on Nov. 14, 2017, surrounded by his family after a long battle with Batten Disease.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 18 at St. Mary’s Church, West Brooklyn with Rev. Randy Fronek officiating. Private burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Nov. 17 in the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. A fireman’s service will be held in the church parish hall after Mass.

Jeffrey was born Aug. 2, 1988 in Mendota to Charles and Tini (Swope) Montavon.

Family members who live on, honor and remember Jeff’s life include his parents of Compton; three sisters, Kim Hanson of Yorkville, Michelle (Gabe) Wade of Mendota and Jeni Montavon (fiancé Cliff Noble) of Amboy; his maternal grandfather, Donald (Doc) Swope of Compton; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is joined in heaven by his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Dorothy Montavon; maternal grandmother, Pat (Bettner) Swope; and two uncles, Mike Montavon and Dani Swope.

Jeffrey was a 2006 graduate of Mendota High School. He was an honorary member of the Compton Volunteer Fire Department. He loved hot rod cars, tractors, fire trucks, classic rock music, and especially the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He also loved watching Disney movies, riding his four-wheel bike and swimming.

Memorials may be directed to the family for several memorials to be determined.
