AMBOY - Jay D. “Jaybird” Bulfer, 61, of Amboy, died Jan. 24, 2019 at UW Hospital in Madison, Wis.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27 at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with Rev. Chuck Jeanblanc officiating. Fellowship meal will follow at the Sublette Community Building. Cremation will follow with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Sublette at a later date. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Jay was born July 22, 1957 in Mendota, to Gilbert and Mary Rita (Fitzgerald) Bulfer. He married Vicky Anderson on Oct. 9, 1974 in Dixon.
Survivors include his wife of Amboy; one daughter, Becky (Jeremiah) Nantz of Amboy; one granddaughter, Summer Marie; three brothers, Paul (Pam) Bulfer of Missouri, Dan (Cindy) Anderson and Mike (Mary) Anderson, both of Amboy; his mother-in-law, Gloria Anderson of Amboy; his best friends, Brad Kessel and Chuck Jeanblanc, both of Amboy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Bulfer; one brother, Steve Bulfer; his father-in-law, Leonard “Andy” Anderson; and one brother-in-law, Randy Anderson.
Jay was employed as a forklift mechanic for Del Monte Foods in Mendota for 43 years prior to his retirement in 2017. He enjoyed playing pool, hunting, riding his motorcycle, drawing and fishing with his granddaughter.
