DIXON — Jan E. Freil, 65, of Dixon, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, in his home. 

He was born May 10 1952, in Dixon, the son of Eugene and Betty Ann (Foster) Freil.

He had worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections for over 17 years prior to his retirement.

Jan was an avid New York Yankee fan.

He married Marla Friel at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy, on Jan. 30, 1971.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Sherry Freil Emery, and a great nephew.

Survivors include his wife; his son, Christopher Freil, of Dixon; his daughter, Stacie (Kenyatta Brock) Freil, of North Carolina; three brothers, Neil (Caren) Freil, Dean (Janet) Freil and Aaron (Mary) Koester, all of Dixon; one sister, Missy (Brian) Capp, of Rock Falls; 16 nieces and nephews; and 14 great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, beginning with a 10 a.m. prayer service in the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon with the Rev. Thomas Doyle, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Maytown. Lunch will follow the burial at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Dixon. Visitation will be held from 2 – 8 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 30, in the funeral home with the Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to St Anne School.
