A tree was recently planted in memory of Amboy City Park board member, Doug Payne, who passed away in December from ALS. Payne joined Amboy Park Board in 2003 as Treasurer. He dedicated a lot of time managing the finances not only the monthly bills, but would always find the best rates for the CD's as they matured. The park board could always count on Payne to be at monthly meetings. He volunteered his time whenever there was park clean up, or other jobs that needed to get done. Payne had played baseball at the park for many years and his children Luke and Taylor played baseball and softball at the park. So it was only fitting that the tree be planted overlooking the baseball/softball diamonds. Pictured are the wife, children, and grandchildren of Doug Payne’s, from left to right: Taylor, Alex and Chandler Payne, Luke, Elsa, Teagan, Mason and Taiden Payne, Cindi Payne, Brian, Jeri, Blake and Joie Morrissey, and Charles and Abby Ellis.
