DIXON — Helen L. "Minnie" Sheridan, 88, of Dixon, died at home surrounded by her family on Monday May 31, 2021.

She was born on Aug 14, 1932 in Ohio, IL the daughter of Frank and Alice (Hawks) Warkins. Helen worked at Freeman Shoe, the Dixon State School, Dixon Developmental Center, and for the Jack Mabley Center for over 35 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Catholic Womens Club, A.F.S.C.M.E., Meals on Wheels, Sterling Moose Club, American Legion Aux., Lee County Democrat Central Committee, and was a long time precinct committee person. In 2002 Helen won the Illinois Democratic Women's Eleanor Roosevelt Illinois Democratic Women of the Year award.

Helen married William "Bill" Sheridan on June 27, 1953 in Ohio, IL.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bernard "Sonny" Warkins, John "Richard" Warkins, Donald Eugene Warkins; granddaughter, Amber Sheridan; and great-grandson, David Senneff.

Helen is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Ronald Lee (June) Sheridan, of Sabula, Iowa, Don (Jodi Vance) Sheridan, of Dixon, Mary (Mark Barnes) Sheridan, of Amboy; five grandchildren, Tanley (Tom) Meinsma, Ashlee (Mio Villalobos) Sheridan, Donald "Turtle" (Desiree) Sheridan Jr., Jillian Barnes, and Reed Barnes; seven great-grandchildren, Oceanna, Kameron, Conner, Bryant, Sheridan, Kylee, and Hadley.

Visitation will be on Thursday June 3, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon with the Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday June 4, 2021 at 11 a.m., at St Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon.

Burial will follow at St Mary Cemetery in Ohio, IL.
