PHOENIX, Ariz. — Gladys M. Shappa, 90, of Phoenix, Ariz., and formerly of Sterling and Amboy, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019.
Gladys graduated from Lee Center High School in 1946 and worked for many years at the Sears stores in Dixon and Sterling, before retiring in Phoenix, Ariz., in 1991.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Bessie Marschang, brothers, Charles and Donald Marschang, and her son, Gary Shappa.
Her wonderful life will be cherished in the lives of her children, Greg Shappa of Corinth, Texas, and Gina Shappa of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren Melissa Shappa, of Snohowmish, Wash., Samantha Manire of Sellersburg, Ind., Megan Womeldorf of Denver, Colo., Natalie Piland of Ft. Worth, Texas, Stephanie Shappa of Corinth, Texas, and Ashley Womeldorf of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 25, at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 26, at St. Patrick’s Church in Amboy, followed by interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
