POLO – Amboy’s freshman-sophomore boys’ basketball team began the season by finishing seventh in the Polo Thanksgiving Tournament.
Amboy opened the tournament with a 47-13 loss to Eastland on Nov. 19.
Ian Eller led the Clippers with five points and Mateo Ramis added four.
Durand pulled away for a 57-22 triumph over Amboy in the second round of the tournament on Nov. 20.
Eller pumped in nine points to pace the Clippers, followed by Haden McCoy with six points and Justin Wicaryus with four.
The Clippers managed to hang on for a 37-33 win over Ashton-Franklin Center in the seventh-place game on Nov. 21.
The game was tied 14-all at the half, but Amboy held a 26-20 advantage after three frames.
Eller’s nine points topped the point chart, while Wicaryus chipped in with eight markers and Jairon Hochstatter added six tallies.
