AMBOY — Amboy American Legion Post 453 began flying the flag that draped the casket of veteran James Patrick O'Rourke last week.
O’Rourke was born on Jan. 4, 1912, and served in the U.S. Air Corp from 1942 through 1946. He also was a worker at the Amboy Post Office for 26 years. O’Rourke served as Amboy's Police Commissioner and was a member of the Lee County Deputy Association. He was a former member of the Amboy American Legion Post 453.
The Post wants to honor those who served their country. If any resident has a flag they would like to fly over Veteran's Park, please contact Jim Braida or Jack Mead or bring the flag to City Hall. The fly time of the flag will be approximately one month. Help us honor a past Vet. They do not have to have been a Legion member to be honored.
