LANARK – Amboy-LaMoille couldn’t generate any offense while Eastland-Pearl City had no trouble moving the ball as the Wildcatz rolled up a 40-0 win over the Clippers in a Northwest Upstate Illini Conference contest on Sept. 1 at Lanark.
The Clippers couldn’t contain EPC star running back Jarod Kempel, who took the first play from scrimmage 61 yards for a touchdown to begin the home team’s scoring barrage. Kempel also added the next two Wilcatz touchdowns on runs of 24 and 4 yards to help his team to a 34-0 halftime lead.
Kempel finished the first half with a gaudy 185 yards rushing and three TDs.
Meanwhile, Amboy-LaMoille did not pick up a first down in the first half. It wasn’t until the third quarter when Ben Rhine ran 14 yards that the Clippers were able to keep a drive going. The Clippers ended with just 73 total yards.
Amboy-LaMoille (0-2, 0-1) will be back in action when they entertain Savanna (West Carroll) on Friday, Sept. 8 at the AHS field.
