DIXON — Edwin “Butch” North, 81, of Dixon, passed Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at that the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospice, Madison, Wis. 

Butch was born March 12, 1937, in Lee County, the son of Harold and Ruth (Cupp) North. He married Clara “Betty” Partington on June 17, 1961, in Dixon. Butch was member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dixon.

Butch was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was hardworking and dedicated to providing for his family. His career of 40 years, farming, Standard Oil, Owner of North Oil Co. before retiring and passing the business on to his sons. Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Chicago Bears and Cubs, traveling, playing practical jokes on his family, entertaining and spoiling his grandchildren and coffee with his friends each morning. Butch will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Dixon, two sons, David (Denise) North, Douglas North, both of Dixon; two daughters, Linda (Todd) Thomas, Laurie (Todd) Baer, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; one sister, Beverly (Randy) Fick, of Franklin Grove; and nine grandchildren, Colin Voigt, Cole Voigt, Kyle Thomas, Austin North, Alex North, Anna Baer, Samantha Baer, Jake North and Addison North.

Butch was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Blackburn (James), and parents, Harold and Ruth (Cupp) North, of Franklin Grove.

Visitation will be from 9 – 11 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dixon followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. David Schweppe, officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date.

In lieu of flower, memorials may be directed to William S. Middleton Veterans Memorial Hospital, Madison, Wis.
