DIXON — Edgar “Grandpa Blue” Wagner, 87, of Dixon, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. He was a lifelong farmer prior to his retirement.

Edgar was born Feb. 7, 1932, in Mendota, the son of Theodore and Rosa (Stoesslein) Wagner.  He married Ruby Jean Cox on March 17, 1957 at First United Methodist Church in Dixon.

Edgar was a former president and co-founder of Living History Antique Equipment Association and a local Historian. He also loved restoring antique equipment. Edgar served on Ashton’s School Board and St. John Lutheran Church Board. He was currently a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruby J. Wagner, of Dixon; two sons, Michael (Maribeth) Wagner, of Rockford, Douglas (Mary) Wagner, of Amboy; four grandchildren, Mikayla Wagner, Trista (Jarod) Delhotal, Brin (Morgan) Anderson, Colton Wagner; four great-grandchildren, Isabella Delhotal, Naomi Delhotal, Quinn Anderson, Liam Anderson; one niece, Sharon Wagner; and one nephew, Randy Wagner.

Edgar was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Albert Wagner.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m., until time of funeral service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon, with Pastor Joseph O’Donnell, officiating. Burial will follow luncheon at 2 p.m., at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

Memorials may be directed to, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon, Liberty Court Assisted Living and Memory Care in Dixon or Living History Antique Equipment Association.
