In 2011, the ladies from St. Patrick’s Parish in Maytown and friends, began making little dresses for Africa. The group meets on Wednesday in the church hall. A total of 5,029 dresses have been made as well as hundreds of britches for boys. All items are sent with missionaries to those in need. On Sept. 11, the sewing group met for a potluck lunch in the hall. Kathy Bohm and Joyce Peterson from “Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child” joined the group and accepted 30 dresses and 30 britches sewn by the ladies, to be included in the Christmas gift boxes prepared for children all over the world. Pictured is Carol Vaessen, Mary Ann Cardot, Laverne Klein, Kathy McLaughlin, Kathy Bohm, Marilyn Blaine, Marilyn Weeks, Karen Henkel, Fran Piper, Carol Elam, Mary Keubel, Joyce Peterson and Lynn Peterson.
