AMBOY — Doris E. Ail, 86, of Amboy, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Feb. 10, 1932, in Amboy, the daughter of William and Laura (Rodgers) Glenn. Doris was a Certified Nurses Aid for Dixon State School and Mapleside Manor in Amboy. She had also been a Cook at Lamb’s Tap in Amboy.
She was preceded in death by her son, John; granddaughter, Sara Lamb; four sisters, Leatha
Poulos, Lola Ponto, Bonnie Ruble, and Opal Schaneberg; four brothers, Ralph, Alvin, Wilbur,
and Gail Glenn.
Survivors include six daughters, Susan (Richard) Becker, of Rock Falls, Cheryl (Richard) Lamb, of
Amboy, Cynthia (Gary) Noonan, of Amboy, Brenda Payne, of Dixon, Laurie (Dennis) Krager, of
Amboy, and Melissa Ail, of Amboy; and son, Kevin Ail, of Amboy; 15 grandchildren, 23
great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; two brothers, Howard Glenn, of Amboy and Russell Glenn, of Dixon; and numerous nieces and nephews as well as those who called her ‘Mom.’
They are blessed to remember her as the historian and heart of the family. A friend, protector,
teacher, nurse, advisor, problem solver, and peacemaker. We are strong because she was
strong first.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 at the United First
Church in Amboy with Reverend Frank Brozenec and Reverend Mark Glenn, co-officiating.
Burial will follow in Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 p,m, and 6 – 8 p.m., Friday at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy, as well as
Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. A memorial has been established.
