AMBOY — Dora M. Dimmig, 92, of Amboy, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018 at Dixon Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Dixon.

Dora was born on Sept. 27, 1926, in rural Harmon on her family’s farm, the daughter of John and Lucinda (Portner) Jacobs.

She worked for Raynor Garage Doors in Dixon for 20 years before retiring in 1988. Dora enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, canning, and feeding and watching the birds.

Survivors of Dora include her four sons, Robert “Bob” (Sherry) Dimmig, of Dixon, Raymond “Ray” (Brenda) Dimmig, of Dixon, Gary Dimmig, of Amboy, and Greg Dimmig, of Amboy; six grandchildren, Lisa (Dean) Brindle of Kinnelon, N.J., Jeffrey Dimmig, of Clayton, N.C., Isaac (Amber) Dimmig, of Dixon, Samantha (Matt) Ramsey, of Chicago suburbs, Jon (Taylor) Dimmig, of Bergen, N.Y., and Joe Dimmig, of Mendota, IL; and six great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by two brothers, John “Bud” Jacobs, of Dixon and Earl Jacobs, of Harmon; two sisters, Gladys Willstead, of Amboy, and Grace (Keith) Willstead, of Harmon; and several nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Bev (Dana) Barlow of Eldena.

Dora was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lucille Bohn and Helen DeWaele; and two daughters-in-law, Sharon (Ogburn) Dimmig and Bonnie (Thompson) Dimmig.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018 at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon with Rev. Jack Briggs officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Amboy Fire Department or Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon.
