AMBOY — Donald Stebbins, 77, of Amboy, died on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, at St. Margarets Hospital in Spring Valley.
He was born on Jan. 8, 1944 in Amboy, the son of Frank and Evelyn (Nelson) Stebbins. Donald lived for many years in the Portland Oregon area, where he worked for the Hall Tool Company prior to his retirement. He was also the owner of the Amboy Thrift Shop located in downtown Amboy.
Donald is the proud owner of an award winning 1962 Chevy Impala Convertible and enjoyed rehabbing houses. He was a member of the Cadillac LaSalle Club, and volunteered his time at the Pearson Airfield in Vancouver, WA repairing vintage airplanes, at the Depot Museum, and the Amboy Depot Days Car Show Committee.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Lowell Stebbins, Gordon Stebbins, Philip Stebbins and twin brother, Daniel Stebbins; and cousin, Letitia “Tish” Gascoigne Weigel.
Donald is survived by his sister in law, Diane Stebbins Baker, of Hubbard Oregon; cousins, Sally (Paul) Timmons, of Rock Falls, Teresa (Victor) Kinney, of Roscoe, Regina Leffelman, of Lostant, Annette (Larry) Bonnell, of Spring Valley, Owen (Myla) Gascoigne, of Ocean Shores Wash., Cedi (John) Cover, of Rockford; and nephew James Stebbins. of Portland Oregon.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Burial of cremains will follow at Woodside Cemetery in Lee Center. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., at the Mihm Jones Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 15,2021.
Honorary Pallbearers are Don Butler, Mike Koppein, Carolyn Leake, and Phil Callison. Arrangements by the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy.
