Lee County Sheriff John Simonton, accepts a $1,500 donation to the Shop with a Sheriff and Buddy Bags program from Jim Phelps of the Depot Days Car Show 50/50 Committee. In the Shop with a Sheriff program, each underprivileged child was assisted by a police officer in picking out the presents they wanted Santa Clause to bring them this year during a shopping trip to Wal-Mart. Each child received a certain monetary amount in gifts and was able to meet Santa at the end of the day. For the last several years, Wal-Mart has made a generous contribution to this program and provided Elves to wrap the presents. Buddy Bags helps to provide food to elementary school children who do not have enough food to eat at home on the weekends.
