LEE CENTER — David C. Haenitsch, 71, of Lee Center, died Saturday, May 5, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 2, 1946, in Dixon, the son of Claude and Ruth (Cripe) Haenitsch. He married Kathleen Kutz July 12, 1969 in Polo.
He was a veteran of the Army and this past November traveled with the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. David grew up on a farm near Ashton and after the service worked as an electronics technician and then as a foreman at Eaton Corp. in Rochelle. He then became an insurance agent for Rockford Life and then Life Investors prior to his retirement
David was a member of the Lee Center Congregational UCC Church where he had helped with Sunday School. He was a member and past Mastor of the Lee Center Masonic Lodge 146, and was a member of the Shriners. He was also a member of Life Underwriters. David was a proud father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Michael David (Suzi) Haenitsch, of Dixon and Melissa Kay (Matt) Foster, of West Brooklyn; and five grandchildren, Kerri Foster, Kalley Foster, Kaleb (Lexus) Foster, Grey Haenitsch and Sarah-Elizabeth Haenitsch. He is also survived by two sisters, Carmen Hood, of Cincinnati, Ohio and Susan (Bill) McCoy, of Dixon; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday May 10, 2018 at the Lee Center Congregational UCC Church. Burial with military honors by the Amboy American Legion Post will follow in Woodside Cemetery in Lee Center. Visitation will be from 4 – 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. A memorial has been established.
